2017 Best Green Beauty Products

Just like I did last year, I am presenting you my Top Products of 2017 in each category. I did try a ton of new stuff this year, even to the point of being overwhelmed, but even so, some of the products haven't changed, and they are moved into "Firm Classics" or "Holy Grail" category by now. I will make sure to point those out. Or you can always go and read my 2016 Top Products post, which I will link at the bottom of my post. If I have a separate review on product, I will link it, so I think it will turn into links galore, like it did last year, so you can always go check my thoughts on products you are interested in, because I always go in as much details as I possibly can in my reviews, as well as listing the ingredients of everything. P.s.if you want to see reviews of products, see here and here.

2017 Best Make Up Products ¦ Green Beauty

Mineral powder foundation 
Pure Anada followed closely by English Mineral Make up. Both non movers from last year.
 
Liquid foundation
Inika

Blush 
Inika's Peachy Keen plus all these other Nars Orgasm Dupes.

BB cream 
Inika and Living Nature.

Cream concealer 
Hynt Beauty Duet Perfecting Concealer followed closely by Ere Perez cream concealer in Latte.
 
Powder concealer 
Pure Anada mineral foundation, more pigmented than many powder concealers. I bought Alima Pure powder concealer and was really disappointed with it, does not even come close!

Bronzer
Studio78. Inika is a close second, but it is more warm in undertone.

Mascara 
I have tried a few new ones this year, and I really like Inika Long Lash Mascara, Nude by Nature and PHB ones. All of them give great length, volume and do not flake - which is really important for me, flaking is a big pet peeve of mine.

Pencil eye liner 
100%Pure black eyeliner. This is not perfect nor it is long lasting, but it is creamy, black and easy to apply. All the others seem not pigmented and scratchy in comparison.

Liquid eyeliner 
Couleur Caramel. 

Lipstick 
Hynt Beauty Pinkibelle without a doubt. My search for "your lips but better" peachy pink nude is over.

Lip gloss 
Can you believe I didn't try new lipgloss this year?! Me neither! I am still reminiscent of 100%Pure Gemmed Lip Gloss in Peacock Ore even though I will no longer purchase from 100%Pure due to the increase in shipping fees, where postage alone exceed tax free limit in EU. Could some EU web shops take note and start selling them please? These lip glosses are perfect dupe for my previously loved Juicy Tubes, and this is why I am so sad to find and lose it so soon again!

Highlighter 
Inika Highlighting Creme. Non mover for the last year - this highlight might seem pricy, but as you only need pin prick amount each time, it will last you a really long time, I had mine over a year for sure. Perfect balance in between of gold and pink, suits everybody, can be as subtle or as POW-in-your-face as you want it to, and it is the only highlighter that lasts all day on me.

Palette - Couleur Caramel one.

Eye shadow single/duo 
Inika Golden Oyster. 

Cruelty free make up brushes 
Real Techniques and Ecotools - see both on Amazon.

Eye brow stuff 
Alverde or Pure Anada Cinder. Both products give perfect ashy tones to my brows. Most of the stuff on the market is way too warm toned for me. I need ashy, almost grey, and I hope more companies will take note.

Lip balm 
Hurraw and Bees Flying Wild. Both have the best staying power.

 
 

2017 Best Skincare Products ¦ Green Beauty Edition

Moisturiser 
Dr.Haushka Rose Day Cream. Repurchased at least five times this year, so let this be a testament. I received a few gorgeous face creams recently, so this might change soon.

Facial oil 
would you believe that this die hard lover of facial oils discontinued using them? After some digging I decided to stop using them for a while due to my dermatitis (dermatitis hates oils, and I refused to believe it, even though my skin protested wildly?) and see how my skin feels without them - and you know what, I spent majority of the year without them, using moisturisers and facial toners/mists only (7 skin method, anyone?). I introduced oils back when autumn came, and despite having a nice collection of ISUN Saphire, Skin & Tonic Naked Beauty Oil, Pai Organic Rosehip Bio Regenerative Oil. Also Mahalo Vitality Elixir Facial Oil if you fancy treating yourself. Dreamy.

Serum (water or aloe based)
Earthwise Beauty Nap In The Meadow

Facial Balm 
Mahalo Rare Indigo Non mover from the last year, and thankfully I own a full size of it now. Amaaaazing for dermatitis or inflamed or blemish prone skin. Search for Mahalo review if you are interested?

Acne treatment 
tea tree oil straight onto the pimple. Nothing works better or quicker. Just be careful to put it onto the pimple ONLY, and not the skin around it - tea tree oil burns are real, and I don't want you to experience it. Manuka & tea tree oil gel by Living Nature is nice too.

Liquid/Gel facial wash/cleanser

I don't waste time and money looking for perfect eye make up remover when this combo is gentle, costs next to nothing, removes all make up, even water proof one AND moisturises delicate skin around the eyes. Win win situation if you ask me? Isun Coco Cucumber Cleanser works for eyes too, no irritations.

Deodorant
my DIY. I've been using it for years, and why buy when it costs 20 cents to make for 6 months worth? This contains baking soda though, so it is not for everyone.

Shaving cream/foam
I use hair conditioners to shave my legs with, but if you want a "proper" product, Logona has nice one. 

Body lotion
Alaffia Coconut Strawberry body and hair lotion.

I am really minimal with my haircare, I use no styling products at all, nor heat in any form. If my hair has flyways I will use a small amount of Zatik or plain argain oil to smooth it out and that's pretty much it.

DIY Link Galore

Here is a thing about me and DIY - as much as I love a good DIY, I will only do it if it is super easy to make, has minimal ingredients and works just as good as the shop bought version.
If some recipe has too many steps or requires too many ingredients, I am less likely to do it. Yes, I know I can make anything under the sun if I will put enough effort into it, but at the same time I don't want to purchase all those fabulous oils, butters, micas and extracts only to be sitting on my shelf and expiring slowly.. I am only one woman, and as I don't sell any of my creations, I want to have minimal stuff. And any products containing water, I am leaving to the professional formulators - as we all know, products containing water can get contaminated very quickly, so they have to be either consumed very quickly or to have preservatives added in.  
P.s. some of my DIYs were complete fails, so they never made into actual posts. Beetroot blush, anyone? :)

Happy New Year and Happy New Purchases

Hello, how it is going everybody? Hope you all are having a great 2015 so far! What are your new year resolutions? And have you abandoned them already? :) I didn't make any this year because I never keep them, but one thing I want to do is to transition my family to more vegetarian/vegan diet, just wish I wouldn't be met with so much resistance.. My hubby always tells me the meat is the best vegetable :( Having watched a few movies about food which force you to think, I feel we would all benefit eating no or meat and dairy, because the way these are farmed is horrendous and gives you so many diseases, including cancer. This is one of my favourite topics and I can talk about it for hours, but don't want to start my new year's post on such a heavy notes, so all I will say please watch "Fork over knives" and "Fat Sick and Nearly Dead".

On the lighter and more fun note, let's talk shopping! Mineral make up shopping to be exact, so if you are interested in natural make up, read on :) From the pictures above you can see my purchases, Bare Minerals and Bellapierre sets, both came from TKMaxx.It's beauty section is my new favourite shopping spot, and I would recommend it to anyone! The prices are so much cheaper than in the shops, the products are good, not expired or anything, I don't know how TKMaxx does it, but so glad they do it. All my favourite purchases came from them in the lat year as well, Melvita organic facial serum, Korres serum, Sibu sea buckthorn oil and mask, pur minerals lip gloss and blush, the list goes on! (there are a few cons, the colour palette isn't great, you get what you can find at that time and you're never guaranteed to find the same thing again). I am extremely pleased with these sets, and let me tell you more in detail about each product.

Bare Minerals set came with full size foundation, veil powder, concealer and all over face shimmer, plus two brushes, the concealer brush and flawless face brush. Concealer brush is rather good, packs just the right amount of products and it's easy to blend. The flawless face brush, not so much. it is itchy and scratchy, not good for anything in my mind, it is not dense enough to give you full coverage, and the shape is odd too, l much prefer kabuki brushes or Real Techniques expert face brush if l am after full coverage. I am sure some of you will love this brush, but having find out it is made of goats hair (wtf, BareMinerals? you promote natural and mineral make up, and some of your brushes are made from animal hair?) and the fact it is scratchy and sheds like crazy after two uses, it's a no-go.

The foundation is lovely, gives a good coverage if you use a dense brush, or light coverage if you use kabuki, covers redness, broken capillaries, dark circles and most of the blemishes. Concealer is my first mineral concealer, so I've nothing to compare it to yet, but I do sort of like it, just it does not fully cover my dark under eye circles.. lasts good amount of time though, and covers small imperfections on the face rather beautifully. I didn't see much of a point of a veil until I tried it, my thinking was - why cover powder with a powder? but it really does work, minimising pores and giving you that glow that everybody is after :) So glad it came in this set, because I would have never picked up otherwise. Oh, and the set was 27€!! Crazy, right? Foundation alone costs €42 in their outlets. What can I say? Go stalk your local TKMaxx now! :)

Bellapierre sets I was seeing in TKMaxx for a good while now, almost picked up once or twice, but told myself to research ingredients and reviews first (I always do that now, long gone are the days I bought something without researching it like crazy woman). What helped to make my mind up was finding these products on lovelula.com website (I love that website, and I know they do research company & products extensively before accepting them, and their standards are high!), so I thought to myself if it's good for them, it's good for me too :) I am on lookout for more products from them, can never find it now that I want it now, sod's law.. Anyways, back to the product - the set contains full size mineral blush, mini bronzer and a cream product for lips and cheeks, plus a kabuki brush. Very good value at €17, you wouldn't even get a brush in other shop for that amount of money, right? Speaking of a brush, this kabuki is beautiful, applies product sheer, so I use it for a bronzer or blush. Of course you can use it for a face too, but for my foundations I like dense brush to get more coverage. The lip and cheek stain is nice shade, works on so many skin tones, I love it for my cheeks, not so much for my lips though, as it is not creamy enough for my chapped lips, but if you happen to have beautiful soft pout, be my guest. Last all day, which is a good thing.

Blush has shimmer in it, and it is a gorgeous bronzy shade, which is perfect for me right now, as this effect I am after right now. for my pale skin it can be a bronzer too, I used it this way a couple of times. The actual bronzer in this set is far too light and shimmery to be taken seriously, so I use it as a highlighter or an eyeshadow. It is lighter in shade than a blush, how can it be a bronzer for god's sake? l had to have a double look as I was convinced it's a mix up. Anyways, all of these products are amazing nice minimal ingredients, nice colours, last all day, what more could you want? It's a yes from me :)
