Bella Aura Skincare Review

Hi Lovelies,

Welcome back! And if you are new here, welcome 💕💕💕

green life in dublin
Bella Aura Review

Let me present the review of something that really works for my sensitive skin - step forward Bella Aura products! I can't express my feelings about the whole line and how wonderful it is! I have started this review many times and every time it does not come out right, so I delete everything and start again. And again. It's just because there is so much I want to say and so much joy I want to express, the words are tumbling down faster than I can write them down. Let me put it in a nutshell - my sensitive skin found home! I am so amazed at this, as every single product in the line works amazingly well for my skin, and when used in conjunction I have clear and happy skin. And continuously so! I never had this with any other line or brand, and I never seen my skin changing so fast either. Needless to say I recommend this brand to just about anyone, because if it works for me, with uber sensitive skin, chances are it will work for you too.
Let me tell you a little pre-story - the day I received Bella Aura, I was sporting rare dermatitis breakout on my face, as many of you might know, I have form of Celiac called Dermatitis Herpetiformis, where the only outwards symptoms you get are dermatitis rashes all over the body. Nothing to do with herpes, mind you. And in my case it is extremely frustrating and annoying - because it always starts on my face before it spreads to anywhere else on my body. I am lucky girl, I know! Soo, long story short, Bella Aura products cleared the outbreak in three days! Even though they aren't specifically designed for that purpose. Let's pause here for a second and let that sink in and be a testament for the brand. Yasmine, you did a wonderful job! I was so amazed and delighted, as so so relieved I decided to go for it - as you might understand, trying new products is a scary thing for me. So many hyped up products in the green beauty community didn't work for me - if I didn't get an initial reaction, then most likely they were not working well on my dermatitis patch, making it redder and angrier. None of that with Bella Aura! In fact, the opposite was true - my skin (and my dermatitis patch) were soothed, nourished, glowing and happy. Needless to say everything else I own went into the fridge for the time being. Upon inspecting the ingredients I was happy to find out my
skin receives a supercharged cocktail of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, peptides, hyaluronic acid,  coenzyme Q10 and more, delivered in a creamy white emulsion. During use, my skin was the clearest it has ever been—and I’m not exaggerating. Bella Aura is starting to collect awards, so don't just take my word for it - the line speaks for itself!

Bella Aura line came about when Yasmine Jones, the creator of the line, was suffering from deteriorating skin & acne scars after going through a traumatic experience with her mother’s battle against leukemia (You can read her full story on Bella Aura website, link at the end of this post). After spending thousands on skincare products and consulting with skincare specialists, she found nothing was working to improve her skin. It was during a trip to Morocco that she met a prominent chemist/herbalist who believed that his oils would help her skin and after months of trying them, she began to see her skin improving. Yasmine wanted to add active ingredients to these oils, and with the help of Swiss skincare technology, Bella Aura line was born. According to Yasmine, most skincare regimens incorporate both serums and creams in order to balance out the advantages and disadvantages of each. By combining them into an emulsion for Bella Aura’s blends, the best of both is fused into one.

There are only five products in the line so far (with Yasmine hinting at developing more) and they work amazingly well together - there's emphasis on less is more, and I have to agree in this case - these products are all my skin needs. For the most part, that's it, but let me explain that further on in this review.

Bella Aura products

The textures are that of thin lotion, but do not let that fool you - they are true powerhouses of amazing ingredients blended together into a powerful fusion. Yasmine describes it as a serum in a cream emulsion. As the products are light, they sink in very quickly, leaving no residue or heavy feeling you sometimes tend to get with oils. If it worked amazingly well for me, it will work for you too. Let's see some amazing ingredients in these products? All of the minerals and vitamins in Bella Aura products are derived from natural botanical fruit and vegetable extracts. Black oats, Nigela Sativa oil (also known as black cumin or black seed oil) and prickly pear (also known as fig de barbary or cactus oil) are the key ingredients in products.

Black Oats contain lipids and proteins which have humectant and emollient properties that help to moisturize the skin keeping it soft and supple.
They also contain antioxidant properties making them extremely anti-aging, and helps with inflammation as well.  Black Oats are known for helping with more sensitive skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. and they also contain saponins which make them a gentle cleanser for more sensitive skin.

Nigella Sativa is a flowering plant that originates from Southwest Asia, India and North Africa. The flowers are usually white and pale blue. They belong to the plant family known as Ranunculacease (buttercup family). This miracle oil has been used in traditional medicine as a remarkable healing agent with powerful restorative properties since the beginning of civilization.  Originally, it was called Panacea, which means to cure all.  It is said that Cleopatra used Nigella Sativa oil in her beauty routine for hair and skin. It was also reported that the oil was found in the tomb of King Tut in Ancient Egypt.
Bella Aura uses Nigella Sativa that farmed and processed in Morocco. They work in partnership with local farmers to produce 100% premium, natural, organic Nigella Sativa seeds, and never use any chemicals or pesticides during the planting, farming or production process. The virgin seeds are cold pressed, bottled in dark glass bottles and stored in a dark cool place to ensure that the chemical properties of the black seeds are retained.

Nigella Sativa, (also known as Black Cumin Seed or Fennel Seed) contains over 100 chemical compounds that are direct contributors to having beautiful skin. This is the most powerful oil in the world with a significant amount of protein and exceptionally high in antioxidants. It is rich in unsaturated fatty acids, calcium, selenium, magnesium, iron, beta-sitosterol, copper, zinc, potassium, paltimol, niacin, vitamins A-B-B2&B3-C-D&E in the seeds. Nigella also delivers the essential Omega3&6 fatty acids that are not produced naturally by the body. This extraordinary oil also has anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties.

Nigella Sativa oil is renowned for keeping your skin looking flawless, young and radiant. This powerful oil helps prevent blemishes, fine lines, age spots, dry or oily skin. Some clinical studies suggest that it is beneficial for removing scars in the skin as well.

Fig de Barbary, also known as (Prickly Pear, Cactus Oil and Opuntia Ficus Indica) is one of the richest oils that fortify the skin with the essential vitamins A-B1&B2-C-D-E-F-K and Omega 3-6-9 fatty acids. It also delivers a wide range of the vital minerals magnesium, zinc, iron, calcium, potassium, thiamin, niacin, beta carotene, amino acids, selenium and many more. Fig de Barbary is miraculous oil that acts as a natural barrier against free radical damage, which is the major cause of premature aging.

This extraordinary oil has a powerful anti-oxidative activity and high moisturizing value to rejuvenate mature skin for a remarkable lifting effect. It reduces dark circles under the eyes, hydrates, smooths, firms and refines skin texture plus brightens the complexion. It is a true beauty elixir that is quickly absorbed into the skin and leaves no greasy residue. This age-defying oil contains almost 150% more of the anti-aging antioxidant Tocopherol in comparison to any other oil in the beauty care industry, including Argan oil.

The Fig de Barbary oil is produced in Sidi Ifni that is located in southwest Morocco. It is one of the most expensive oils in the world to extract and requires the production of about 1 million seeds to acquire just one liter of this precious oil. Our Fig de Barbary plants are completely pure and organic with no chemicals or pesticides used during the farming process.

If we want to break down ingredients further to singular mineral and vitamins, here's what they do:

Omegas 3-6-9s play an important role in all skin conditions, such as combating wrinkles, lines, acne, eczema, psoriasis and even dry, flaking or very oily skins. These good fats are credited with helping your skin’s cell membranes stay healthy, which acts as a barrier to harmful exterior conditions. The cell membranes influence the cells ability to retain moister, thereby producing a softer, more subtle and more wrinkle-free skin. The anti-inflammatory compounds in 3-6-9s help to affect how healthy the skin looks and feels during the aging process.

Magnesium is a powerhouse mineral that is essential for keeping your skin performing at its best. It has anti-oxidant clout with enzymes that regulate DNA replication and repair to prevent the skin being subject to a host of wrinkle-producing malefactors, such as free radical damage and inflammation. Without the DNA repair from Magnesium, you will continue to be assaulted by free radicals and it's only a matter of time before fine lines and wrinkles begin showing up.

Zinc is beneficial for many acne sufferers who are deficient in zinc. Once they start obtaining zinc in their daily regimen, their acne often improves. It is a trace mineral essential to all forms of life, such as gene expression, cell growth and cell replication and especially important for clear skin.

Calcium includes cell renewal, lipid barrier function, and antioxidant protection from DNA damage. Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the human body and a deficiency can manifest itself in skin dryness, itching and premature wrinkling.

Potassium is a vital indicator of healthy looking skin because it is a key player in cell integrity by maintaining electrolyte balance and internal fluids, thus keeping cells hydrated and skin internally moisturized.

Beta Carotene is a carotenoid known for its antioxidant properties. Its ingredient in skin care products can include skin cleansers, facial moisturizers, foundation, sun products and anti-aging treatments. Beta-Carotene provides protection against sun damage and helps to even out skin tone and improve skin texture.

Amino Acids are the building blocks of beautiful skin. They help to produce collagen, elastin, and other proteins and fibers for strong, soft and desirable skin. Selenium has a number of positive attributes in skin care with the key role relating to its antioxidant properties and ability to tackle free radicals. Free radicals result in the disruption of living cells such as skin cells. Selenium helps to retard negative environmental factors such as pollution, radiation, cigarette smoke and herbicides, which can spawn free radicals.

Copper holds promise for prolonging youthful looking skin. It plays an important role in maintaining healthy skin because it helps to develop collagen and elastin, which maintain the strength of the skin for less sagging and fewer facial lines. It also has antibacterial and antifungal properties, which help prevent skin infections.

Sterols are natural compounds derived from plants, fruits and vegetables and essentially vegetable fats that enhance the human immune system. Phytosterols are extracted from different botanical sources. Phytosterols contribute to the structure of the cell membrane and have anti-inflammatory properties, which contributes to anti-aging properties. Phytosterols and polyphenols improve sun-damaged skin.

Carotenoids come from fruits and vegetable and help your skin’s complexion look healthy. They travel through and get stored in our bodies with the help of fats and enhance skin color and tone for a beautiful glow.

Ferulic Acid is found in the cell walls of plants and acts as an anti-oxidant that seeks and destroys several types of free radicals that cause skin damage. It act synergistically with other antioxidants such as Vitamin C & E and makes them more effective and powerful in preventing wrinkles.

Lemon Balm contains romarinic acid, which offers stronger antioxidant activity than vitamins C and E. This antioxidant-rich botanical helps to prevent free radical cell damage.

Rutin is a type of bioflavonoid that has a very high anti-oxidative capacity and the ability to increase collagen production for reducing fine lines and plumping the skin. It also acts as a protectant from oxidative damage caused by sun exposure.

You may or may not know that I road test every new skincare product prior to writing a review on it, and this was no exception. Your skin renews itself at around 30 days period (40 if you are 40, yay or what?), so I need to make sure I test the product throughoutly before I speak about them. I see no point in doing first impressions reviews on skincare, but that's just me. Here's my skincare routine for the last two or three months:

AM: no cleanser, refreshing my skin with thermal water and konjac sponge or washcloth.
1 pump of Antioxidant Booster mixed with 2 pumps of Daily Repair Moisturizer applied all over the face
1 pump of Instant Lifting Eye Contour, applied on the under eye area, upped lid, eyebrows and around lips.

PM: skin cleansed with a few pumps of Gentle Purifying Cleanser, followed by
1 pump of Antioxidant Booster mixed with 2 pumps of Night Cellular Renewal all over the face, followed by
1 pump of Instant lifting Eye Contour, applied like in the morning - on the under eye area, as well as on the upper lids and around the lips.

As I already mentioned, I shelved or rather refrigerated all the other facial products I used, so this is primarily what I used for the second half of winter. I think you already got the impression on how great my skin loved these products (see the gushing at the beginning of this post) but interestingly there were the times when my skin was craving more moisture, notably when the temperatures really dropped when we had the blizzard here - then I found myself reaching for my beloved DrHauschka Rose Day Cream or Mahalo Rare Indigo balm to seal in that moisture. Also worth noting is that when I tried to stop using the entire line and go back to my usual products only incorporating one or two Bella Aura product into the set up, that's when my redness and skin irritations came back. So that's why I wouldn't recommend getting just one of moisturizers if you are new to the brand, you might not see the full potential of the products, and/or it might not mesh well with whatever else you are using. I would recommend getting a sample set first, and using all the Bella Aura products together - in the sample set you will get 10ml of each of the product, and trust me, they will give you enough use for a couple of weeks - plenty of time to see if the products are for you or not. I can bet you will end up falling in love with the products in the first couple of days, just like I did. The day and the night creams are very similar in consistency, as well as how they feel on the skin, but upon inspecting the ingredients I realized they have different ingredients, thus you might not cut corners and use only one of them. The Antioxidant Booster is a true star in my book, makes everything so much better and my skin truly likes it. I wonder how it would perform boosting my other creams I own, but at the same time I don't want to try it, as I enjoy using Bella Aura exclusively too much. The eye cream works great, is light and sinks in quickly. I was a bit worried about it at first, as prior to this, I only used under eye oils for two years straight (Earthwise Beauty Passion Eye Serum and Wabi-Sabi Botanicals Budhi Eye Nectar - they might be called serums or nectars, but in reality they are oils). So I was a bit worried about not getting enough hydration in this delicate area, but my qualms were quickly squashed, it works great! It is also the first eye product to make a difference in darkness I have - not a stark night-and-day kind of difference, but I am impressed nonetheless. The cleanser I too found great, the same milky consistency like other products, but you get huge bottle of it, and must say it works great for my sensitive skin, it does not irritate it, which is super rare for me. It does not lather, but it cleans your face nonetheless. I find no need to double cleanse, and it takes all of my make up beautifully in one use. Even eye make up, but please take my advice and do not open your eyes when doing it. Rinse well first. Just saying.

Yasmine herself is the best advert for her brand - not only she looks drop dead gorgeous, but what drew me in was her gorgeous soul - so I am so glad green beauty community connected us! She not only supports several charities and works with the communities in her native Morocco, but I also witnessed her supporting her fellow green beauty sisters in a big way - she donated a portion of her profits to Lily's aka Genuine Glow hubby's cancer treatments, as well as more recent event when Taylor from My Lucite Dreams lost her home (and a dog) to a fire. Now, how amazing and thoughtful is that?! Be sure to check out the blog portion of her website and her Instagram too - you can find so many helpful tips over there, as well as facial massage videos - I think those are well worth checking out.

My overall thoughts – I was deeply impressed by every single product in this line, and honestly, I can’t even begin to pick a favorite! This truly is a beautiful and thoughtful line that really does deliver on its claims. My skin is so temperamental and difficult to please most times and during the entire testing period (about 3 months now), my skin was calm, clear, hydrated and just healthy looking, which it hasn't been in a long while. I know it’s not the most wallet-friendly brand, but trust me, it is worth every single penny! I am not sure how I will come up with the funds when I will need to repurchase everything, but I guess I will have to figure out a way?
If you asked me to point out anything bad about the products, the only thing that comes to my mind is that the eye product could do with a different pump - the way it is now, I find it dispenses too much product, and I can't half-pump it. With the amount it gives, I can easily do under eyes, upper lids, eyebrows, around the lips, and oftentimes I find I still have some product left, which I use on my neck. But that's a good problem to have, isn't it?

Nude By Nature Review

Hi Lovelies,

Welcome back! And if you are new here, welcome 💕💕💕

Nude by Nature make up - review by Green Life In Dublin

Today I am coming at you with another brand review, and what's more exciting, these products are all available in Ireland! Yay or what?

But let me start from the beginning, and I can't wait to tell you all about these products, show you the swatches and all! Love reviewing clean make up goodies, and I hope you will find it helpful and interesting? The brand in question is Nude by Nature, Australia's nr1 mineral make up brand! I had my eyes on the brand for ages, their products seem so beautiful, and let me tell you, they didn't disappoint! One item in particular impressed me very much, and I will save that to the last.

Eyeshadows - Natural Illusion Pressed Eyeshadow in Coral and Rose Natural Illusion Eyeshadow Trio

Coral was the love at a first swipe, the colour is my new fave! Whenever I am doing my make up, this is what my hand always reaches first, and I have to remind myself to use other products. So happy to have this shadow in my life, even if I use this shadow alone on the lids, the look always comes pulled together and it looks like I made a ton of effort, when in fact I didn't. And I am a big fan of that. It is really smooth and pigmented, and it lasts all day, and I don't use a primer! It also does not crease, which is fabulous, I am definitely a fan of this product, you just got to love a fact that I can put it in the morning and can basically forget about it for the whole day and it will still look fine at the end of the day. Don't we all want that? This is so much better than my Lily Lolo and some other shadows I own, and I definitely will be switching to those from now on, and it makes me want to check other colours too.Single shadows come with a mirror too, which is always a bonus. See it swatched below.
Rose trio is in a sleek compact, with a cruelty free brush and as much as I like the fact that you can get away with only this if you are a minimalist, but I also should mention the fact that some shadows are more pigmented than others. Nonetheless, you can create an array of fabulous looks with them. My favourite from the lot is the darkest shade, which I often use on the outer corner of my lid when using Coral - the look is suitable to both day and night, and you can always go in with more darker shades if you want. I am not a make up pro, far from it, but these shadows are so easy to work with, they practically blend themselves and it makes me look like I know what I am doing :)
You can also see Coral at the end of this blog post - on my eyes coupled with Nude by Nature mascara. I should also say that you get three 2grams shadows in the trio, but the single shadow pots house 3 grams of product. As always I will include the ingredients list, so you can peruse if you are comfortable or not using these. No scores on any products in EWG, but I checked a couple of ingredients separately (POLYMETHYLSILSESQUIOXANE,DIISOSTEARYL MALATE) and they came out as non toxic, getting a score of 1 (out of 10). You have 24 months to finish up the product, which is awesome. Single shadows retail for 16€ and the trio is 28€ which is really not bad.

Ingredients:
MICA, LAUROYL LYSINE, TAPIOCA STARCH POLYMETHYLSILSESQUIOXANE, DIISOSTEARYL MALATE, ZINC STEARATE, PRUNUS AMYGDALUS DULCIS (SWEET ALMOND) OIL, TERMINALIA FERDINANDIANA (KAKADU PLUM) SEED OIL, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, CITRUS GLAUCA (DESERT LIME) SEED OIL, SANTALUM ACUMINATUM (QUANDONG) FRUIT EXTRACT, FUSANUS SPICATUS (SANDALWOOD) KERNEL OIL, MAY CONTAIN: +/- [CI 77891 (TITANIUM DIOXIDE), C.I. 77491 (IRON OXIDE), C.I.77492 (IRON OXIDE), CI 77499 (IRON OXIDE), CI 77007 (ULTRAMARINES), CI 77288 (CHROMIUM OXIDE GREENS), CI 77742 (MANGANESE VIOLET)].

Swatches of Nude by Nature make up in the daylight, no editing, no filters
Touch of Glow Highlight Stick in Bronze
Well, I have to admit this looked scary at first, especially having in mind that I am at all times palest, but I really warmed up to it - a highlight stick with  active natural ingredients, including the native Australian Kakadu Plum, known for its abundant Vitamin C content, Quandong and Desert Lime to help provide antioxidant defense? Yes please! True to my style I tested it in a multiple ways, from using it as a cream eyeshadow, to using it as a bronzer. And I like it a lot. Come summer and it might be as well my favourite product. Tube packaging is really sleek and portable. I am a (new) fan. The price of this is 20€ and you get a whooping 10grams or 0.35oz of product.

Ingredients:
ETHYLHEXYL PALMITATE, MICA, TRIOCTYLDODECYL CITRATE, OCTYLDODECANOL, CETEARYL CANDELILLATE, COPERNICIA CERIFERA CERA, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, DIPENTAERYTHRITYL TETRAHYDROXYSTEARATE/TETRAISOSTEARATE, GLYCERYL ROSINATE, BEHENYL BEESWAX, CITRIC ACID, CITRUS GLAUCA (DESERT LIME) SEED OIL, DISTEARDIMONIUM HECTORITE, FUSANUS ACUMINATUS (QUANDONG) SEED OIL, FUSANUS SPICATUS KERNEL OIL, LECITHIN, LINOLEIC ACID, MONTMORILLONITE, OLEIC ACID, PALMITIC ACID, PHYTOSTERYL CANOLA GLYCERIDES, POLYGLYCERYL-3 POLYRICINOLEATE, PRUNUS AMYGDALUS DULCIS (SWEET ALMOND) OIL, STEARIC ACID, TERMINALIA FERDINANDIANA (KAKADU PLUM) SEED OIL, TOCOPHEROL, TRIETHYL CITRATE, TRIOLEIN, XANTHAN GUM, MAY CONTAIN: +/- [C.I. 77491 (IRON OXIDE), C.I. 77891 (TITANIUM DIOXIDE)].
(this is true for BRONZE, for other variations check their website for ingredients).

Nude By Nature Mascara - fast becoming my favorite! Does not flake!

Allure Defining Mascara
I saved the best for the last! After making the hearbreaking decision to not repurchase my nr1 natural mascara (see my reasons here) I thought I will will be years since I will discover my next perfect mascara that does not smudge or flake (my biggest pet peeves) since I tested sooo many mascaras prior to finding my former favourite. But I was saved from months and years of disappointments, because this mascara is like a God sent! Ingredients are not as clean as 100%Pure, but I am ok with that, because a) this mascara is available in Ireland and I can get it sans international shipping and dreaded custom fees, and b) this mascara truly does not flake nor smudge. I am walking a lot, and I am up agaist elements daily (famous Irish rains and #stormdoris, anyone?) and this mascara held up perfectly, I never had it run my cheeks, no flaking ever, and I am three weeks into testing this. I will update this post if it changes for the worse, but I have high hopes for it, and so far so good! It retails for 20€ aand you get standard three months to finish it after opening. Note - this is not a vegan mascara. I should also state that it does not give me that amazing false lashes effect I used to get from my former mascara, it is more like "natural" look mascara, but I am ok with that too. If I want to, I can always add drama with the lash fibers or purchase lash conditioner, but for everyday, it is fine. See it below together with Coral shadow I love so much. Do you like the look?

Ingredients:
AQUA, CERA ALBA (BEESWAX), LANOLIN, HYDROLYZED CORN STARCH, EUPHORBIA CERIFERA (CANDELILLA) WAX, POLYGLYCERYL-8 OLEATE, CANDELILLA/JOJOBA/RICE BRAN POLYGLYCERYL-3 ESTERS, GLYCERYL STEARATE, GLYCERYL CAPRYLATE, POTASSIUM HYDROXIDE, SILVER CITRATE, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, SODIUM STEAROYL LACTYLATE, BENZYL ALCOHOL, ACACIA SENEGAL GUM, CARRAGEENAN, PALMITIC ACID, GLUCONOLACTONE, SODIUM BENZOATE, STEARIC ACID, GALACTOARABINAN, CITRIC ACID, GLYCERYL UNDECYLENATE, PANTHENOL, GLYCERIN, CITRUS GLAUCA (DESERT LIME) FRUIT EXTRACT, SYZYGIUM LEUHMANNII (LILLI PILLI) FRUIT EXTRACT, TERMINALIA FERDINANDIANA (KAKADU PLUM) FRUIT EXTRACT, MAY CONTAIN: +/- [C.I. 77491 (IRON OXIDE), C.I.77492 (IRON OXIDE), CI 77499 (IRON OXIDE)].

Nude by Nature eye make up

This review post is a collaboration between myself and Debenhams Ireland and that is exactly where you can get Nude by Nature products, online only though. I am so happy Ireland has started embracing natural beauty and we can finally get it in the big department stores. Well done Debenhams, I will be back for more! Neal's Yard Remedies Palmarosa Daily Moisturizer Review

Hi Lovelies,

Welcome back! And if you are new here, welcome 💕💕💕

Nyr, Neal's Yard Remedies moisturizer review

Neal's Yard Remedies Purifying Palmarosa Daily Moisturizer review

So today I am coming at you with another review, and this time the spotlight is on Neal's Yard Remedies Purifying Palmarosa Daily Moisturizer. It is one of those products where I used slash tested it for six months prior to posting my review! Whoops? Well, it was tested really well, what can I say!
It came in my NYR order last August, I am technically a NYR consultant, but selling the products is not for me, so it if fair to say I am my only customer. It works for me as I get a discount, and most of the products I tried to date, I was impressed with. Seriously, their shower gels last for months, and ours is a family of 4! At first I was a bit reluctant to pay rather high price for a shower gel, well, at least in my opinion anyway; but after trying it I am willing to, they work very well and are very economical.
Anyways, let’s get back to the moisturizer, shall we?
As a NYR consultant you are supposed to do at least one annual order of 100€ value (to get points to keep your consultant status), and I figured that is not a bad deal, since you easily spend 100€ on natural products anyway, and discount never hurt anybody, right? I know I love discounts. As a stay at home mum it is in my nature to be frugal, and let’s face it, 100€ won't get you very far when it comes to buying green beauty products. Well, to be fair, NYR prices aren't like “high end” of green beauty prices, but they are not cheap either, for example this Palmarosa moisturizer costs 35€ for 100ml. I am willing to spend that much of a cash if I know the product will suit me and I will get a good use out of it (more on it later), but I haven't had much luck with NYR face products prior to trying this moisturizer. Their Frankincense face cream and Orange Blossom face oil left my face red, blotchy and painful, a sure sign of allergy to one of ingredients, no? And as we all know you can't return an open product to the brand or store, so I was stuck with rather expensive and unsuitable products. I can't remember exactly what I did with them, I think I sent the oil in a green beauty swap and I gave away the cream to my friend? It does not matter either way. Whee, I talk too much today, and steer off the topic, please forgive me my dear readers!
So needless to say I was really apprehensive when ordering this moisturizer, as someone with next-to-nothing play budget I can't afford too many mistakes, let’s put it this way. To be honest with you this facial moisturizer is aimed at oily skin people, and you might be left wondering why I chose this instead of their product for dry and sensitive skin? It is because I was able to sample it in a mini size first, and I really liked, my skin showed zero adverse reactions to it, zero redness, zero itching, zero anything, and that is very important to me, out of 10 new products I try, vast majority will leave me with red and inflamed skin! It is getting so bad that I almost don't want to test new products anymore, and that is heartbreaking as it is the exact thing that I love to do, and somewhat suicide as a blogger. I really do worry about producing content if I don't get new products, but we shall see, lets take it one day at a time, shall we?
So there were my reasons for choosing this moisturizer, it came home because my skin loved it. You see, NYR consultants are able to purchase mini sizes of selected products as an add on to their order, and that is exactly what I did. At that time I was in need of a new facial moisturizer, and as stuff from their sensitive range wasn't on offer, I chose what was, aka Palmarosa one. Thankfully it worked out perfectly, and it is safe to say I will be repurchasing it time and time again. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that it made into my 2016 Best Products!
It was the end of the summer I got it, so I used it in its own until the seasonal change came, and it worked very well on its own. When fall and cold rolled around and my skin started freaking out because of it, I added a facial oil to it, and voila, happy skin days again! So I used it for around five and a half months day in and day out (in my morning and night skincare routine) and would happily carried on, if it didn't star smelling funny. You see, even thought the Best Before date is still good (well into 2018 in fact), but the actual Use After Opening date is six months. (All your products too have two such dates, and I suggest you pay attention, look for the “open lid” logo with a number, and depending on your product it will have two to twelve months “use by” date. It differs from product to product, but I suggest you stick to those dates, even if you are like me and it pains you to throw away half or hardly used product - using outdated skincare and make up might do more harm than good. So I suggest not building a collection that is too large, just enough you would need in your day to day life. And no back ups. It is not a war time, the products will still be there in the shops when you need them.)
Weehee, I do tend to go off the track a lot today, am I? I meant to say that I really enjoyed the product while it lasted, and I did a really good job of finishing half of it, using it twice daily. Now that it smells a bit funny, I am parting ways with it - with my very sensitive skin and post dermatitis I better part with it and not be frugal! Someone with less sensitive skin might get away with using it longer (I know people who use their NYR products waay past their date and they are fine with it) - not everyone has such sensitive skin as moi.

This moisturizer is not thick or oily, it is very light and it sinks in really quickly leaving no residue whatsoever, which I like, and you can't feel it on the skin once it is on. It is thin yogurt consistency. It does not have any SPF which is a bit of a bummer, as I would like my SPF to come from a good moisturizer. I have to say I hate having to layer separate SPF product on, and that is probably the only con of it. Oh, no, wait, expiring halfway through the bottle is another major con! I was complaining about it on Instagram, and someone suggested splitting it with someone, and that's a great idea, I feel sort of dumbo of not thinking of that myself, but it is certainly what I will do when I will get my next bottle come summer time. Why not now you ask? Well, I am using another fabulous moisturizer at the moment, which might be more suitable for winter weather, and I can't wait to tell you all about it! I just needed to get this review out of the way first. I need to be more organized with my reviews, sometimes I use a fabulous product for months and it somehow bypasses any Instagram or blog mention! I know a few other products I failed to review last year, another NYR product in a form of White Tea Eye Gel and Lil Fox eye butter - I really enjoyed using both of them for the better half of the year, but totally forgot to mention it in any social media of mine, whoops or what? Now I am happily using Passion Eye Serum by Earthwise Beauty, and have another eye oil product by another brand waiting it's turn, but if I published the reviews of four of the products now, people would be like "what? how many under eye products can one person have?", you know what I mean?

This Purifying Palmarosa moisturizer featured heavily in my Instagram feed and in my Everyday Skincare Routine - please check it out here if you missed it.

Earthwise Beauty Review

Hello Lovelies,

Welcome back! And if you are new here, welcome 💕💕💕

I talk about these products in my Skincare Routine post, please check it out, link below

I think the Universe wanted me to have some Earthwise Beauty! Not only the gorgeous Andie The Green Queen sent me some samples to try, but then I won the giveaway hosted by Andrea from Organic Beauty Lover where I acquired three products of full size - Nap In The Meadow, Passion Eye Serum and Marshmallow Suds cleanser. And now that I had a few months to play with the products, I am finally ready to share my thoughts about them.

Earthwise Beauty products - Nap In The Meadow, Marshmallow Suds, Passion eye oil

.
Earthwise Beauty Marshmallow Suds

Marshmallow Suds

Ingredients: Herbal infusion {distilled water, Althaea officinalis (marshmallow) root*, Calendula officinalis petals*, Matricaria recutita (chamomile) buds*}, water, Cocos nucifera (coconut) oil*†, cold-press Prunus armeniaca (apricot) kernel oil*, Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) esters*, Aloe barbadensis juice*, vegetable glycerin (from non-GMO soy)*, Olea europaea (olive) oil*†, potassium hydroxide (but none remains in final product, after saponifying oils into soap and glycerin), Cannabis sativa (hemp) oil*, natural ECOCERT preservative {glycerin, Leuconostoc (radish root) ferment filtrate, Lonicera japonica flower extract, Lonicera caprifolium extract, Populus tremuloides bark extract, gluconolactone}, guar gum, glucono-lactone (from non-GMO corn), Melissa officinalis oil*, Matricaria recutita (German blue chamomile) oil*, organic Tanacetum annuum (Moroccan chamomile) oil, Anthemis nobilis (Roman chamomile) oil*, citric acid, non-GMO tocopherol (vit. E). *Certified organic. †Certified Fair Trade.

This is different from other cleaners because it comes layered, it has nourishing oils on the bottom and “marsmallow” part on top and you have to shake it really well before each use. This is the second cleanser in my life to NOT dry out my skin, as all the cleansers I have used to date have done so. (The other one is “Calendula” cleanser by NYR if you are curious) In fact, post cleanse, this leaves a moisturising layer and I can skip the moisturiser if I want to. I really enjoy it!
It came with metal cap and a separate pump, which I added immediately as we sort of expect our cleansers to come with a pump, but it didn't work for me, even after shaking and holding it upside down, I only got the oily part of the cleanser. So after trying to make it work for a couple of weeks, I took the pump out and now pour the shaked cleanser into my hand. This is not a downfall of the product at all, it is simply me nit picking, maybe other people do enjoy using a pump?
As a cleanser it is really nice and I really enjoy it. Don't want to run out!

Earthwise Beauty Passion Eye Serum

And ta-dah!

Passion Eye Serum

Ingredients: Organic cold-press unrefined amaranth (Amaranthus hypochondriacus) oil, organic cold-press unrefined green coffee (Coffea) bean oil, organic cold-press unrefined andiroba (Carapa guianensis) oil, cold-press unrefined brazil nut oil*, organic cold-press unrefined murumuru (Astrocaryum murumuru) butter, cold-press unrefined passionfruit (Passiflora edulis) oil*, organic cold-press unrefined rare whole-fruit rosehip (Rosa canina) oil, wildcrafted seabuckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides) berry CO2 Total supercritical extract, cold-press unrefined tamanu (Calophyllum inophyllum) oil* (India), gem essences. *Certified organic.

The very first thing I heard about the product was the eye watering price, not going to lie! But then the positive reviews poured in, and I was interested what do you get for that price and is it really that good and lives up to the hype? And then the mind boggling news of me winning the giveaway came, and I soon found out the answer to my questions. The blend is a truly amazing blend of purest oils and butters, and I have to say it is amazing product! It comes in two sizes, 7.4ml which was what I got and then there's bigger 15ml size which is standard for eye products. They're both glass vials with a dropper, and I was advised to keep it in the fridge. I did so for a first two weeks or so, and then gave up for two reasons, firstly it semi solidified in the fridge and it was impossible to get a product out without warming it at first, and then I figured out the temperature changes twice a day might be not good, and I might be better off just leaving it at a room temperature. I also have to say I decanted the product into the more sturdy glass bottle with metal roller ball, and I really enjoy it that way. I was forever afraid of knocking over the original packing or accidentally touching the dropper  with my fingers and thus contaminating the product. Now I am really happy with it, product and packaging vise! This is the first proper eye oil I used (I used tamanu oil for my under eyes previously, another post for another time) and this topped many products I previously used! I am now using it for about three months twice daily, and I am halfway thought, so I assume it will last me about six months in total, and I have to say I will happily pay that amount of money, because you get a fabulous product. If there's one lesson my 30s taught me, it’s to invest in good skincare, and I can now say I will happily invest in a good product if I know it will be working for me. Back to the product - as it is an oil, you have to allow it a good few minutes to sink in. It works well with my powder concealer I’ve taken to using in the last couple of months, but on the days I whipped up my trusty fave Hynt Beauty concealer, I noticed mascara smudges. So if you are using creamy concealers, you might want to give this oil ample time to sink in or use it at night only if the problem persists. I can't say it have done wonders for my dark under eye circles (see them and me sans a scrap of make up on my IG post here) but my under eyes are so well nourished and the fine lines (what fine lines?!) are so much less visible! Well done Ava, what a great product!

Earthwise Beauty Nap In The Meadow

Nap In The Meadow

Ingredients:Aloe leaf juice*, elderberry fruit extract, turmeric CO2 Total supercritical extract, polysorbate 20 (naturally derived), lavender oil (* and †), yarrow oil*, Italian everlasting oil†, German blue chamomile oil*, potassium sorbate (natural preservative), organic geranium bourbon oil, geranium rose oil*, copaiba balsam resin†, galbanum oil*, xanthan gum, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), wildflower essences†.
*Certified organic. †Responsibly wildcrafted.

Well, let me just say that this was the instant fave before even trying the product on! It is because I knew this product contains blue tansy and turmeric, and both are amazing for inflammation! It is two of my favourite ingredients in skincare at the moment, and I credit those two for keeping my skin clear  post dermatitis.
So, upon getting the actual product I wasn't disappointed at all, it is a fantastic aloe based serum, and it is like a shot of amazing nutrients for your skin! I am looking forward to putting it on every single morning.I am actually very surprised that it suits me, because it is based in aloe (which tends to irritate rather than soothe my skin - see my level of sensitivity? Off the roof!) and it contains essentials oil, which I am also really sensitive to, but somehow this works for me against all odds! I don't know what magic Ava applied to it, but in this formulation everything works for me, when in some other cases the same ingredients irritate me. Very surprising, but all I need to know that it works for me! (if you are as sensitive as me don't go running to buy full size of it, please - what works for me, might not work for you. Samples are a way to go, honestly!) It sinks in very quickly, and then you can layer other products on top. It might be enough of a moisturiser in summer on its own, but as we are in a thick of a winter right now and I am on my first bottle, I can't speak of it just right now. Amazing ingredients, as you would expect from Ava’s products, and I trust her formulations to be at their natural and potent best, no need to peruse Skin Deep or anything like that!  If you are just starting with Earthwise Beauty, I recommend you start with this product as it is truly fabulous and you will be able to see results immediately. I am uber sensitive and usually I can't handle essential oils in my products, but my skin loves it. It becomes more bright, smooth and firm, and thanks goodness the redness is gone too, as long as I keep using this serum. In three months or so I used about half of 1oz or 30ml bottle, so I assume it will last me six months using it once a day. I took a break from it for a few days, and immediately saw a change in my skin for the worse, it became red and textured again, so at this moment in time I declare it one of my Holly Grail products and I never want to be without it, ever!

So there are my two cents on Ava’s products, I really enjoy using them in my daily routine! I will definitely repurchase at least some of the products once I run out, I would love to get them all and everything else that Earthwise Beauty does, but it is not realistic for me right now, my budget is so small it is practically non existent. These products are pricy, but rightly so, because you truly get what you pay for here, the products are blends of only the best quality exquisite raw materials, and you get potent blends, not some diluted versions with 0.01% of active ingredient (conventional beauty products are notorious in this).
My European green beauty sisters, I have good news for you, Earthwise Beauty has EU stockist in eminessences.com (located in Belgium) - so we can skip high international shipping costs and custom fees all the same, isn't it great news? I am certainly happy about it and will be ordering at least one product once I run out. At the moment I think I will repurchase Nap In The Meadow first, as I have another eye oil and quite a few cleansers to test out. But on another hand, my skincare routine is working so well for me that I don't want to change a thing, so who knows?

I am not sure if anyone wants my opinion on a few sample sized products I also have, but if you do, let me know and I will add my thoughts onto this blogpost. Even though her samples are generously sized, but even so I am not sure I want to weigh in with my opinion on them, as generally I write reviews on skincare items I use for about six weeks or so.
I would also highly advise checking out Earthwise Beauty website and blog for a vast information about the individual ingredients and why they are used in certain products, and I would suggest watching Andie's video on Earthwise Beauty products, she has a few videos, and I will link the brand overview video below - she talks so passionately about them, you can't help but want every single one of them!

*Update - as I was asked to give my thoughts on the samples I have, so there you go - I have or have had samples of Babassu oil, which I couldn't handle the smell off, and my skin wasn't happy with it either. I checked the ingredients (and the price) and I think it was the tobacco extract that my nose wasn't liking, and the price point is high too, so I decided not to invest in the full size of it - I have Mahalo's Vitality Elixir for comparison, and it works so much better for me. Next is Carrot a Day Sensitive formulation - I am sad to report this didn't suit my sensitive skin at all, it might be too much of essential oils for me to handle, but it made my skin red and blotchy, and it was very uncomfortable feeling once it was on, so I had to wash it off both times I tried to wear it and apply some balm aftewards to soothe my skin. These two samples went to someone in Germany. Next I have Blackstrap Molasses face mask, and sadly my skin was somewhat irritated by it too - I don't know how it is possible, as everyone seems to be raving about it, but I guess it is not for me? I didn't notice any amazing changes in my skin either, so I guess I am not investing in it either. That's my thoughts after trying it once, and I have some of it left for two or three more uses, so I might try it once more again as not to diss the product after trying it just once. Update a few months later - after I opened it once more about three months later, I found it moldy. I am definitely passing on. Next is Tangerine Skies Facial oil, which looks like sunshine in a bottle, and it is semi solid at a room temperature, so more like a moisturiser in my eyes? It didn't suit me either, sad to report! On top of that irritated feeling it broke me out. That is after using it once, but I will persevere once more and come back to you. Next is Fern and Moss face serum in an oil form - and this didn't give me any irritations.
So, all in all, my thoughts on the brand are, they really use amazing the best you can get raw ingredients, but it doesn't automatically mean it will be suitable for everyone, and my example clearly shows that. I didn't expect to be irritated by so many products, but I am glad these were samples and not full size products! If you are sensitive and reactive as me, samples are definitely a way to go, I would hate the thought of you getting full size products and then finding out they don't suit you... So there you go, my honest opinion as always on the table. If you have been with me for any amount of time you know you are getting nothing but honesty from me.

It is becoming sort of tradition of mine to end the review with a wishlist, so shall we keep it up?
I want more of the same I have, plus Cistus and Moonlight Face Mist and Farizad's Veil SPF 30+ Powder. For starters :)

So that is all for today. Have you tried this brand and what are your favourite products?

 Lots of Love,
Renata.
