Lavera Hydro Effect Serum review

How are all of You? I hope You are well and I sure hope spring has graced You with it's presence yet, wherever part of the world You live?
Here in Ireland we are experiencing dramatic weather changes, from cold to warm almost overnight - I am talking like 18*C, which is almost like summer weather here. But the wind is really cold, so every time I leave the house I am not too sure what to put on - my trusty winter coat? Utility jacket? Rain coat?
I am also observing nature, and yet again I am coming to the conclusion it is smarter than us tenfold - while we are scratching our heads at what's happening and why is the weather so weird, the trees are practically all still naked here. I used to marvel at pink blooms of cherry trees since the beginning of March - and guess what? Out of 15 trees in our neigbourhood, only one is blooming - and within a week it is shedding the blooms already, when they used to stay on for at least a month! Not a good sight if You ask me?

Anyways, let's take a look at the Lavera Hydro Effect Serum review, as I know that's why You are all here :)

The official blurb:

Lavera are well-known for their natural and organic skin care products, and affordable price point, so I was super excited to try their Hydro Effect Serum. Mine came from NaturalSkincare.ie and I've been using it for at least six weeks, since that's what I always do with skincare.
Featuring an anti-pollution complex, the serum has been specifically designed to protect the skin from harmful environmental factors, such as fine particles and exhaust emissions, which attack skin cells and affect the skin’s natural protection.

Lavera Hydro Effect Serum

On a first glance, I was really impressed to see that the product is certified by the Vegan Society and NATRUE – so the product is 100 percent natural and organic, and suitable for vegans. It’s also packed with a variety of nourishing, high-quality organic plant extracts – ingredients include aloe vera, mango, peach, shea butter, sunflower seed oil, soybean oil and rapeseed sterols.
The main active ingredients are organic algae and natural hyaluronic acid. The algae protects skin cells, counters the effects of free radicals and prevents premature skin ageing. The hyaluronic acid assists in the synthesis of collagen, therefore helping skin fight the effects of ageing, and helps the skin retain moisture.
The serum has a lighter, runnier consistency, but it was easy to apply and glided across my skin like silk. It has alcohol as one of the first ingredients, but honestly, you wouldn't know it, as it does not feel drying at all, and You guys know I have pretty sensitive skin. It does have a citrusy, fruit scent, which is due to containing mango, peach and lemon; it is refreshing and a great way to wake up in the morning.

Lavera recommends gently massaging the serum into cleansed skin as the first step of your daily skincare routine. Makes sense for a serum, no?
It’s reasonably priced compared to other similar products on the market. It has to be highlighted that one pump goes really far too and is enough to cover the entire face, so the 30ml bottle will last you a long time.

Ingredients:
Water (Aqua), Alcohol*, Glycerin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice*, Squalane, Isoamyl Laurate, Fragrance (Parfum)**, Lauroyl Lysine, Sodium PCA, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Fruit Extract*, Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract*, Marrubium Vulgare Extract, Fucus Serratus Extract*, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)*, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil*, Dehydroxanthan Gum, Dodecane, Octyldodecanol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Biosaccharide Gum-1, Xylitylglucoside, Anhydroxylitol, Xylitol, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Glyceryl Stearate Citrate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Hydrogenated Palm Glycerides, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Glyceryl Caprylate, Brassica Campestris (Rapeseed) Sterols, Limonene**, Benzyl Salicylate**, Linalool**, Citral**, Geraniol** * Ingredients from Certified Organic Agriculture ** Natural Essential Oils *** Fair Trade

What are my final thoughts on it? I really enjoyed using it while it lasted (you will see it in April Empties post soon) and I liked that it had tightening effect to it. Due to this factor, I soon stopped using it twice daily, and only used it in the morning on my face, neck, chest and the back of my hands. Seriously, don't save your green beauty products, they are meant to be used, and I used it generously. As I already mentioned, it has runnier texture and sank into the skin quickly, leaving no residue. As I have dry skin, I needed to follow up with the moisturiser.
At this point I am not too sure if I will repurchase it, as I have an array of serums to be tested and reviewed - at this point the blogger's overwhelm is getting very real, not going to lie. If you are looking for affordable hydrating serum that would shield your skin from pollution and would have a tightening effect to it, this might be your perfect product?

As I already mentioned, mine came from NaturalSkincare.ie, and I've already reviewed one of  their Ireland's first natural & organic beauty subscription boxes - see it here. I have received great feedback not only on the box (which regularly sells out!)  but on the team behind it all - and that put a huge smile on my face! That's what we want, don't we? Accessibility to natural products here in Ireland (sans huge custom fees)  and a helpful team with smiles on their faces! The website sells a lot more than only natural cosmetics, you will find natural remedies, healthcare, fragrance and personal care - browsing the website I found a lot of little know gems like citridal, colloidal silver, olive leaf extract and so on. Fabulous, good to know!

Hmmm, I am not too sure what's happening, but I seem to be wanting ALL THE THINGS lately, so here's my current wishlist from this website :)

Khadi Shampoos and oils

Hydra-Vital Hyaluronan Facial Spray

Selection of A. Vogel natural remedies

Seavite face serum and haircare

Carraig Fhada Atlantic Seaweed Bath

Kinvara Hyaluronic Youth Boost 15ml

And anything by Irish brand, really, I am keen to support local businesses and expand my Irish Series section on my blog!

Ps. Natural Skincare sent me Lavera's roll on deodorant to try as well, and although I enjoy using it, I find it does not always last me throughout the day, especially if I am more active or stressed. As it didn't make it into the Holy Grail category, I will skip reviewing it. It does not mean it is a bad product, I might be the person who needs something stronger than this.

Let me know what your favourite natural deodorant is? That's a tough nut to crack, so let's help each other out, shall we?

Tata for now!

Lots of Love,
Renata.

  1. Great to hear your thoughts on this product Renata. I actually purchased this to review recently, because I always get questions about budget friendly serums and this can be found at very reasonable prices. I totally agree that you cannot detect the alcohol in the formulation and I find it nice and cooling. I have been mixing it with a few drops of oil and adding a moisturiser on top and it has been working well for me Xx

  2. GREAT ADVICE! Yes, USE YOUR PRODUCTS! I don't even bother taking shelfies because I only buy/make or use what I need for the next 6 months max. If not it's all expired, wasted - so sad... ! So I really limit my products. Nothing worse than putting on a spoiled lotion or serum lol LOVE YOUR SHARES AS ALWAYS! Pinning now :) xo

  3. Yes, I am big on using up my products too! I try my hardest to keep my stash at the manageable level, and I sometimes want to go and hide under a rock when I see someone's stash or shelfies on Instagram - I question myself how can I even call myself a blogger compared to that :D
Thanks for reading and pinning, I really appreciate this xo
